| Food Not Lawns |

So ive been really proactive this past month. To start off, I acquired an abandoned bike and rebuilt it. I converted it to a single speed and added some new parts. Now I have this really awesome vintage road bike that probably only cost me $20 total. On top of that, Ive started a vegetable garden outside of my apartment. I have about 6 tomato plants, 6 jalapeƱos plants, over 20 pea plants, and a few more vegetables. Its cool because I live in a small apartment in a somewhat urban area yet i have been working on a garden and a compost pile. Theres a patch of grass right next to my place that gets full sunlight. No one was using it so I figured that vegetables are alot more sustainable than grass.
Food not Lawns! Yea! |

| It's Been a Good Month |
[Mar. 24th, 2008|09:20 pm] |
This has been a really good month for me so I'm going to start posting again. Plus, I only have about 6 more weeks of the typical college life. I'm going to miss it. I have new things planned though. Hopefully I'll be moving to Spain in September. I'm going to try and live over there for awhile. Right on the coast...
Thanks for reading, Tom |

Im back...but for how long?
anyway. This semester has started slow. Im involved with alot of things. Me and a few people started a meditation group. Its been going well. Every tues 7:15-9pm. Its good shit. Over christmas in houston I started attending a soto Zen temple. Ive had alot of experience in Buddhism though the fairhope tibetan society. But zen is alittle different the Tibetan. Sitting zazen has really affected me for the better. Since new years ive meditated for the minimum for 20min everyday. Its really helped me. I would recommend it to everyone.

So I went to DC yesterday. I attended a demonstration demanding Israel to end its occupation of Palestine. After talking with many Palestinians and Jews from the West bank and the Gaza Strip, it really opened my eyes to how the IDF segregates Palestinians in refuge like camps and destroys their original homes so Jewish settlers can move there. What the fuck man... How can anyone support a Zionist state? |
